Tidewater Search and Rescue (TSAR) is an all-volunteer Search, Rescue and Recovery organization. TSAR provides specially trained and certified professional volunteers to find lost or missing people in wilderness, rural or disaster environments free of charge.
We train and certify to Virginia standards and employ Ground support to include Search Team Members and Leaders, Human Trackers and Search Management teams in all manner of environments regardless of weather. We deploy in wilderness as well as urban environments day or night throughout Virginia and can go wherever requested through the Virginia Department of Emergency Management to include states surrounding Virginia and beyond.
How can our assistance be requested?
Call the VDEM Emergency Operations Center at 800-468-8892 & tell the communications officer that you have a Search and Rescue emergency. They will walk you through what resources are available then alert the resources that you request. Please remember to request Tidewater Search and Rescue!
